I check the flash by bringing the motor to 1000 rpms and then flooring it on the green light and seeing how high the rpm's go .

Here is another example of torque converter mystery . The converter I just put in to replace the J-9 was in a buddies truck 4000# full size chevy . It flashed to 2900 watched it with my own eyes . In my truck It is spinning the slicks at 1900 and flashes to 2400 max .

Looks like I got another converter change out coming up . This converter is way to tight . The boss hog should be in any day now . They said they fixed the clicking and loosened it 1000 rpm . So it should be 4500 now which should stall around 3600 in my truck . Did that make any sense at all ?

O.K new converter is in and it footbrakes to 2900 and flashes to 3800. It seems a little looser on bottom than i'm used to , but I think it will work . Found out I put the distributor in a tooth off , got that fixed . Got the factory fuel tank from rbman's junk pile and had a sump welded in . Just got the tubing in yesterday and will be changing tanks and installing a new Holley blue pump for the motor and plumbing the red pump for future use . Block prep work is done at the machine shop on 383 project so they are just waiting on $ to buy parts there . I have been working 72 hours a week so not a whole lot of time to mess with it . I'll be working till 1pm saturday and heading straight to the race track for a big index race saturday , so I got 4 hours to find the tune up and run the # . CLOBBERTHON 38

I thought i'd give an update . Got the sumped tank in and fuel lines run , pumps installed and truck running again . This converter is way too loose . I am going to try it out at the track , but it is too loose for the street . The J9 transking has been rebuilt and is ready to go back in . Machine shop called and said my new block was cracked between the center cylinders on both sides  . Something else got installed also . I'll try and post pics tommorow of the surprise .

Sorry for the delay , atleast someone is paying attention . With all this rain and long work hours and my spare time under the truck it does not leave much time for updates . Camaro is going to the body shop . 1949 Chevy p/u is about to get the cab put back on , but I managed to put some new stuff on the luv and im still finishing up for the races this saturday .

Thats the only rubber line on the truck . Your allowed 12 " . There are guys down here with full nitrous set ups plumbed with push-lock hose . Where would you have mounted the regulators ? fenderwell ? I'm open for suggestions . This is my first fuel system .

The firewall disqualification is a new one on me. Mine are on the fenderwell though. Looking good.

Looks good to me to, only thing that might be missing is :D the low pressure switch on the fuel solenoid. And also you will need a fire proof jacket now too.

I plan to line it up after a good burnout and if it leaves good drive it all the way out , get my time slip , and load up and go home . I will only get one shot at it .

Cool, if you have never driven one with nitrous you are in for one hell of a difference 8O Its major cheap hp and if all of your stuff is right it is relatively harmless on a motor. Just make sure all of your stuff is right. Because it can be catasrophic. 8O

Ahhh , I have either 4x4 or long bed rear springs now . There is a difference . The new ones have 4 leaves without the overload and the second spring wraps around the front eye . I also lowered the front end like quickluv suggested . I hope it picks the front up just enough to plant the slicks and goes like a rocket . It rained again today and it's in the forecast all weekend . If a hurricane comes through here it's gonna be bad . the ground is soaked . I had a tree branch fall and it stuck 12" in the ground . Anyway double payouts saturday ( $1000 for my class ) Still got to find some bottle brackets local , Pick up the custom hoses I had cut to fit , and have the bottle filled . A buddy of mine has 4 bottles and said I could borrow one for the weekend so i'll probably fill 2 and run a fresh one in the finals :) Did I mention the rear weld wheels were 15 x6 ? I had my slicks taken off them and mounted on the 15 x 8 ralley wheels . put my screws on the inside and out with tubes . This laid the tire flat and put all the rubber down . 26 x 8.5 x 15 is actually 9" wide . The kid at the tire shop called me out with his VW golf , said nitrous is for people who don't know how to make power . I told him " Let's make it interesting since your golf is so much faster than me and run'um for $500 " . He didn't have any money , so I guess i'll just have to accept his word he's faster than me  .
