im replacing my main and rod bearings, should i plastigage the new ones? Isnt it a waste of time since their new, and if their the ones that are meant for your truck couldnt you just size em up to the old ones?

I have recieved main bearings that were stamped wrong before. Plus, your crank could be at the minimum and the new bearings could be also, which would give too much clearance. It's a good idea to always check them as it's easier to do it now than it is to redo it.

makes sense. Also i got some rod bearings, they are thge same size and fit the same, but the hole is different, as you see in the pictures the old one has one hole, the new one has two. I didn't think that would make a dif, since the hole is their to provide lube in the bearing. Just wanted to ask. Image

I dont think it will make a difference, probably either a different brand or new style, the holes pretty much just lube the crankshaft. 2 holes is probably a good thing. :-)

Oh and you may already know this, I learned from experience, make sure you put the bearing caps back on the right way. cylinder numbers stamped on the same side of the cap and rod end. I had 1 on backwards and the damn thing would barely turn over...real tight.
