Its that time. I'm going to get a new Weber Carb. The Hitachi is held together with JB Weld and sheet metal screws. I've looked at a few web site but still not sure which one has what I need. I looked at Carbs Unlimited (K662), Weber Carbs Direct (WK663) and Redline (K662).. All three had the 32/36 DGEV but the part number was different at Weber Carbs Direct. I still need to use the stock air cleaner and did not see the adapter with any of these kits. Any one using the stock air cleaner with the 32/36 DGEV.

I use an adapter that lets you use the stock air cleaner.I got it a carbs unlimited. I think the part number is 99010.301. It has a 3 1/8" diameter, but you need to measure the open of your air cleaner to make sure. It about 34$. At the same place you can get the conversion kit which gives you everything including 32/36 electric choke carb, adapter plate and linkage for around 300$. But does not include the air cleaner adapter. The kit number is k662

Thanks for the good infor JB, just ordered myself a new Weber. Wish I had done it earlier, starting it up during the wintertime was an ordeal. Also got the adapter plate to make sure the man is happy when i bring it in for emissions testing. Thanks.

Don't know how they are with emissions but you can aways keep the regular emission stuff like carb smog pump etc. Then when it comes time for inspection just put it on to pass inspection then change it back to the weber carb etc.

The new Weber (DGEV) arrived yesterday.. I'm going to install it tomorrow. Any tips from any one that has made the switch.. I noticed that there is only one electrical hook up and that is for the choke..

The weber doesn't use a fuel shut off solenoid or coasting richer solenoid. Just leave the fuel shut off solenoid wire unplugged. If you have a coasting richer solenoid not sure about that wire. Maybe able to leave it unplugged too.
On the throttle lever that comes with the kit I just drilled out one of the holes so the end of the throttle cable would fit into the hole. Then drilled a small hole in it so I could tap a screw in it to hold the throttle cable end to the throttle plate. This way if need be I can hook back up the stock carb. Having an automatic I had to make a kick down plate to hook to the throttle plate.

Install was postponed. Will attempt to install this weekend. Has anyone tried using the throttle linkage from the Hitachi on the Weber. I don't want to cut the end of the throttle cable for the linkage that came with the kit. I still need to smog it every other year so I'll need to put the Hitachi back on for the smog check.

Just look at my post above and read what I did to adapt the weber without cutting the factory speedometer cable end using the weber adapter plate.
I will try to take a picture of what I did so you can see it.
