Ok, never heard of this happening before, but a friend of mine, completely rebuilt his engine, drove, got it passed smog, got it titled, and drove it for about a month. Last week, his carb, iced up on the base plate! Switched to another carb, and it iced up on the base plate! and I mean iced up, froze, etc., which consequently wouldn't allow the throttle plates to move. Has anyone ever heard of this, and if so, what would cause this, and what would the fix be? Help

This is fairly common when the air temperature is 30-40 degrees and the moisture content is high. Happens a lot here in rainy western Oregon. With the stock set up including the warm air hose to the air cleaner inlet this won't happen. Also the changing gasoline formula for summer (removal of alcohol) can cause this. You might try a different brand of gas to see if this helps. If the engine chokes and stops from the ice build up, just wait a minute or two and the engine heat will melt it out and you can restart and go again.

That's what I thought. He'll have to try another type of gas, and make sure the hoses are all hooked up. I'll let him know. Thanks, guys for the responses.
