Hey guys, I have a 76 Luv and im from Australia. I have a few Questions I hope you can help me with.

Firstly I want to start by lowering my Luv. I have had a bit of a read through some of the old topics and I am now more confused when i started. What I want to know is what is the cheapest and easiest way to dump my Luv. What have you guys done? I dont want bags yet so I am looking for a quick lowering job. I got quite confused reading about the torsion bar front end, Can someone please let me know what the deal is with it. I have been told that you can take out the rear leaves and just turn em upside down and it will drop it at the rear, is this tru? also is lowering blocks the easiest way to drop the arse? Sorry for being such a pain but Im really hopeing someone can help me out.

Also is there any aftermarket grilles available or does anyone sell the twin headlight surrounds as one of mine is broken. Also with the rear tail lights are there any replacement ones or tutorials how to smoke em or modify them, some pics would be good if you can help me out.
Thanks
76LUVN

Torsion bars: Take the load off the front suspension. find the adjustment bolts on the crossmember under the cab (at the back) and turn the pass side and driver's side an equal number of turns in the same direction. I can't remember at the moment which direction lowers and which one raises.

As for the rear, use lowering blocks.

Grille: maybe you can find one on ebay, if you are patient. Other than that you're outta luck.
Same with tail lights and the headlight surround. Though you might find someone here who can hook you up...

There is a torsion bar write up over at http://www.planetisuzoo.com/articles.htm?id=117 that talks about lifting, same idea just you are going the other way. One thing it does not mention is that you want the truck on jack stands or at least put a block under the frame some that it would catch the truck if something breaks. If the adjuster bolt broke with you under there, the truck would come down hard, fast, and very low. Not that there is a big chance of that, but I've broken one and even with a block there to catch the truck it was not fun. Start with spraying the bolt head and the adjuster block it threads through above (t-bar has a thing that sort of hooks under it) with some penetrating oil. Might as well do that right away, give it a few days to soak in.

BTW, I believe it follows the old rule "Righty Raises, Lefty Lowers".

here's a thread that shows the bolts that you will need to turn to lower your front end with the torsion bars, that's how I lowered mine.
