well my dad has a 78 accord hachback that sat in a field for 10 years befor i found it. he is in the middle of a complete resto. on this cool little car but when we pulled the gas tank it was full of varnish and crud. now my question is how bad will this be if a car sat for oh lets say 2 maby 2 1/2 years, see i have a 79 VW scirocco now that has been sittin for maby 2 1/2 years and the fuel pump was bad, so when i pulled the pump of gas game spewin out of the tank, and sure enuph is smelled like turpentine, so i know the gas was bad, now would it be a good idea to take the tank out and clean it or would i just be waisting my time? i know what 10 years of sitting gas will do to a tank but im not sure how bad it would be if it only sat for 2 years.

My luv sat for about 3 years, only used for moving a boat around the property, all with the same tank of gas in it. I bought it after that and went through a tank of gas and two fuel filters like crazy. After that it was fine....

i would pull the tank and clean it.. or even get the crud and rust boiled out. you might be able to just run it like it is, but it will more than likely keep causing you problems for a while.

just my opinion though
