Under most circumstances I personally prefer a manual trans.

However I think that in a fast race car an automatic is better.

i drove a stick for years now own all autos (cav, wifes van, and luv is getting a th350) i say depends alot on how ya drive. i used to hate driving a manual around town.
but there IS just something about slamming gears

if your gonna bracket race i would say go with the auto its more consistent for the average racer. if its a weekend crusier i would probably have some with the manual. just my thought

I have to go with race on this. If you bracket race an auto is more consistant. However for pure pleasure in driving theirs no substitute for slammin the gears yourself. 8)

auto. nothing more consistent than choosing a stall speed to work with your power band. a ratchet shifter can still give you the control of selecting 'when to shift'. you eleminate the need to push that dang petal down three or four times every time you leave a traffic light.

sure, manuals may be more durable, but if your like me, you change parts as ofter as you change under wear...... 8O
