I have factory bucket seats in my 80 mikado. But they are beat to hell and wore out completely. My dad has a early 80's Suburu he got for a parts car for his son's sub. But they don't need the seats. Anyone have a clue about how hard a swap this is gonna be? FYI, I have a single tool box with some wrenches, some sockets and screw drivers, nothing extensive. Thanks.

I doubt it would be too hard. The seat rails from the factory buckets should give you a good start on the hardware needed. Just take them off your seats and figure out how to get them on the donor seats you are using. Only thing I can think of that would be helpful to have is a drill for getting holes to attach things together. That and a few screws and bolts should get you there. It does sort of depend on the Subaru seats and if they don't have anything that would make them hard to modify. I haven't seen any of them personally so I don't know if there would be anything that would make them too hard.

One suggestion, start by getting the passenger seat figured out, in case you need to run to the store for a nut/bolt to finish the project.

Yeah what I put in mine were mazda mx3 seats. Got them at a junkyard for realy cheap. Bolstered and everthing all the slide mech. are built into the seat. 4 points for each seat to mount with a little spaceing and drilling some high grade bolts and washers and cheap bucked seats are in. :D

Unbelievable. I used the rails out of my truck since I already had buckets, bolted 'em to the new seats. The seats are about 3 inches wider, so I turned the outside rail around and bingo, dropped right in the old holes. All I had to do was drill two holes and get to some bolts to attach the old rails to the new seats. Took me about an hour and a half for both. Used a 9/64, 12mm wrench 12mm socket and a phillips screw driver. I was flabbergasted. Comfortable as hell too, they're out of an 80's model Subaru wagon. I'll post a picture or two if someone can show me how.

I would like to see some pic's. I had put Eclipse buckets in mine, but pulled them to put in my daughter's car. I guess she needed them worse. While they fit well and were comfortable, I am interested in what other options there are for seats.

Thanks,
Mike

One side bolts right up while on other side of each seat you must drill two new holes. i get compliments on mine everyewhere i go. drove it to upholstery shop to pick up an ElCamino for my boss and the guy thought they were factory.....I was like "Gee thanks man!! " 8O :D 8)

Now that they're in there, besides being light grey against red, they do look 100% stock. They even have this manual lumbar lever.

Dude thats sweet, the factory buckets in my truck were reupostered right before i got my truck , so i don't know if i'll be replacing them any time real soon, but if i could get some that tilt forward so that i can have better access to the back of the cab, that would be great. :P

I took some pictures out in the garage during the install, but now I can't find my camera, cleaned out the garage real good, but can't find it. I'll get some pics posted when I either find it or get a new one.

acura integra, 1993 . these seats rule! its like a seat from the space shuttle! Butthe stock bench to bucket switch was not as easy as I thought it would be,it was only like 3 in the morning with no jackstands.

I just put bucket seats from a '98 Grand Am in my Luv. The install was really easy. Took about an hour. I flipped the seat brackets around backwards, drilled 3 holes and made 2 plates for the 2 legs that didn't fit. No problem, even after a case of beer.

the seats I put in are leather but the drivers is religous,so I got the extra fancy $20 mexi blanket seat covers. If I ever get the camera over to the house I intend to put as many pics as I can on the website,I,m about halfway through my first floor repair. Not as pretty as it could be but at least its not drafty anymore. (rusted floor, standard option?)
