i don't know if you plan on racing but if you do i believe you have to have that boxed in. but that does look sweet like that. i'll track down my nhra rule book and let you know. terry

its true -you do have to box the tank if hangs below the frame,if you make the box of steel it should be .024 or.032 aluminum, page 194 nhra rule book.i used 032steel for my box !

ok it is a 16 gallon plastic JAZ fuel cell.
it will be completely under the bed. I will cut a hole and make a lid to lift for filling. it doesn't hang lower than the rear end.

LOL @ spare tire....I haven't carried a spare since 1993......guess luck has been on my side...knock on wood.

so I have to box the whole thing in? I guess if anything hits it right? well I might get around to doing it, but im sure it is more durable than the factory plastic tanks in the newer cars, so im not worrying about it for now. thanks ALOT for the info though.

There very tough, they have to be boxed in to pass tech though, and race. Bryan

I mentioned this to someone today and they interpreted the "below the frame" rule as, it can't hang below the main frame rails. In other words, if your tires fall off, they don't want the fuel cell grinding on the ground.

So, now I'm not sure. I don't have a rulebook so I guess I need to get one.

yes, the tank only has to be boxed , the portion under the frame .
