On my 1982 LUV I have lowered the truck 2" up front and 2" in the rear. I'm not so concerned about the rear, but the front suspension rides pretty rough. I obviously turned the torsion bars to lower and have been driving the truck like this for about 1-2 years. I know the torsion bar front suspension isn't the best riding and even is rough at stock height. Is there anything I can do for the front suspension to make the ride quality better? Not that this will help, but the shocks up front are quite a few years old and need replaced. I was thinking about getting Belltech lowering shocks to help out my lowered suspension ride. There is a good chance I will add those to help me out, but I need to know if there are any other parts that will help me out.

Heres just a thought...

Cut out the torsions and put in some coil overs. It would probably be a lot of work, a lot of measuring, but the ride would be awesome. I plan on doing this to my LUV in time. I think luv4me has some pictures of when he did his LUV up with coil overs. Its clean, simple and the ride would be great. I guess it depends how much you use your truck, and what its used for, but as a daily driver I don't think you could get much better ride out of it. Like always though, theres the whole cost thing.... :?

Just thought I would throw the idea out. Good luck! :)

did you trim down the bumpstops? cause if its sitting on them you will have a very bouncey ride also

the coilovers will help, but you are hitting the bumpstops....unfortunately there is nothing you can do short of installing new A-arms out of a different vehicle. you can cut the bumpstops about 1/2 off and that will help some.
RATNLUV installed an entire front suspension from a mustang II on the luv frame. he has pics in the pictures page.

Thank you all for the help and ideas. I never cut the bumpstops on my truck after I lowered it. Actually didn't know that would help the ride, but I will look into doing this in the future. What about the Belltech lowering shocks, would they help? They are special shocks in that they are made for lowered suspensions and make up for the shorter travel you need with that lowering. All 4 of my shocks most likely need replacing anyways, so I think I will buy the Belltechs to improve my ride.
