I think you would get a different front peice (lights mounts, grille, and lights) out of an older Luv and it will go right in.

would'nt you have to slice up the radiator support to make room for the back of the lights?

Pretty easy swap. Just get everything you need from a donor, including the buckets the lights sit in. The only thing you'd have to be slicing I would think would be the wiring/plugs...

My 79 has 4 lights and not a thing has been cut. The sheet metal behind the lights is nearly identical, and you can use the donor truck for wiring to plug into. Here is what you need from the donor:

Grill
Headlight trim
headlight buckets, rings, bulbs
wiring with both plugs and a few extra inches from both sides
All the screws that hold it all in place

Crimp 3 spade connectors onto the wiring from the donor, plug them into the headlight plugs on the recipient truck and you are there. I don't recall the color scheme off hand, but its not hard to figure out. The grounds go together (black no stripe on both trucks, both sides) and then just experiment for the lows/highs. Turn lights on and set low beam find the hot one on the truck's plug and hook it to the wire from the donor that only goes to one of the plugs. The other one is the high beam and will go in the only available spot on the plug.

You can get creative and put the high/low bulbs in the inner position instead of the outer if you like, though I don't know if that is covered by motor vehicle laws of some kind.

I need to check one of my original condition 79-80 trucks to make sure the valance has the slots in it for the smaller grill. Off the top of my head I can't remember and the truck I have to compare to has a lot of "off year" parts on it. If not, it is not hard to cut/drill them in, or you can pull that part when you get the rest of the lighting bits.

interesting.......this sheds some light on another project i was thinking about.......driving lights .....i really don't want to add more stuff in the front bumper area but i wanted better visibility with my lows on.....

is it legitimate to have 4 headlights all running high/lows in all sockets?

Not sure about that, but they do make something to keep your lows on when you have the highbeams on.... But I don't see why you couldn't wire it up to work the way you want to....
