Thanks for the info, makes it easier to imagine it all working knowing one end does indeed twist. I wonder how hard it would be to do the same on the back end only with an eye towards lift instead of low. I can see doing a similar setup on a 4x4 truck. Gain some inches, load leveling ability, flex yourself out of a rut, all sorts of possibilities there. It might take a little more math to get the angles to hold up all the way through the long suspension travel and side/side flex you'd want off road. Even though I'm not really into layin frame, that setup of yours really gets me thinking.
I recall seeing a write up someone did of a traction bar on a 4x4 where they used Heim joints to allow movement both directions at the same time. That might be an alternative to the solid- mount-left-loose method, though I can't think of an advantage over what you have. Maybe if the jam nut bound up or tightend on its own enough to bind you might have trouble, but it probably isn't turning all that much. I doubt you'll be letting it sit in one place long enough for the threads to get rusted togther or anything.
