I got a 3" body kit from Central 4 Wheel Drive in Tacoma for about $100. I was a little disappointed! Half of the parts were unnecessary!!! Because the truck is so light, find someone with a lathe to fab some round blocks from urethane(high shore value), or UHMW polypropolene. You need 2 different lenghts to achieve an equal lift. I had to fab my own steering column bracket from .250" aluminum. Any thicker will give you clearance problems. The only real snag was cutting out around the shift levers and finding boots that worked! I used the shift boots from a full-size Bronco. Forgive me!!! This is the one time I have EVER used Ford parts on my Chevy's! But the cut-out was so big, these were the only ones that actually worked.

I actually made a lift out of heavy wall water pipe and thick washers the same diameter. Cut the pipe into 2 inch sections, welded the washers to the pipe ends, and put it all in with longer bolts. For some reason I did all mine the same length and it came out dead on perfect. Can't quite figure how putting different length spacers in anywhere wouldn't mean different height change unless you are ditching the stock rubber mounts. I do recall the cab and bed being a little different in that the cab actually had a measurable amount of rubber in there. I did add in some 3/16-1/4 inch rubber under the spacers as well, but basically just made sure I did the same thing height wise all the way around the truck. It rides like a dream and hasn't loosened up in about 8 years of running it this way. Just make sure to use lock bushing nuts on the bolts so they can't back off on their own.

UHMW poly would be the way to go as a replacement to the stock rubber and to act as a spacer. It is self lubricating and will wear better than steel. Finding it and getting it cut and bored out might be tough though. Seems like I have seen somewhere a place that makes custom lifts out of it that was pretty reasonable. I'll see if I can dig up that link.

There is an outfit called Ultra-Poly in Tacoma that has everything in stock. General Polymers (or General Plastics?), also in Tacoma stocks anything you would ever want! Facing and drilling on a lathe is the clean way to fab the bushings. Otherwise, the drill will suck up the material and make a dangerous mess!!!
