I saw a sandblaster advertised and am not very fimiliar with them. Its got a tank that you pour the sand into and then pressurize it with air. It holds 20lbs of sand and costs $45.00. Is it worth it? And do you have to change tips or anything like that to spray different medias? I checked into having the bed of my luv powder blasted and was quoted $550 8O! Tryed 2 different paint strippers and they didnt work very well. So I thought I would try powder blasting it myself if I can.

Hey Happy,
If you dont mind a lot of dust and time GO FOR IT!!! I bought a blaster like that 2 yrs ago.I luv it.I have blasted the entire frame of my truck along with many body panels. Some old rims that I sold at a swap meet and now my brother is using it on his 69 camaro. You will need to buy extra tips.My uses a porcolen tip and they do wear out. Also check any of the OLD Time hardware stores in your area.I buy blasting sznd for 6 buck for a 80 pound sack.

Sweet. Im gettin it next weekend. I had an old siphon one years ago and it didnt work for shit. It did realy good at blastin a spot about the size of a dime at a time. Good thing I got it free. Im going to try using baking soda first. Ive read about it a few different times and is supposed to be realy good at takin down old paint and rust. And anything left in cracks that gets blown out while youre painting wont be big enough to see like sand would.

where is that blaster for sale at, and baking soda? Is that coarse enough to take off paint? I have a 76 with a lot of surface rust, and a little heavier rust around the bed, tie downs, etc..... I was thinking of looking at sandblasting it myself. Any info for a newbie would be appriciated!!!! Thanks.
