Moser engineering used to machine stock Luv hubs to a 5 lug configuration but they dont offer that service anymore. Check around with some of your local machine shops to see if they can do this for you. You'll save money by avoiding shipping cost. The cost of machining the hubs is about the same as getting adapters. I dont think that adapyers will take a lot of abuse if the truck is hopped up. You didn't mention the rear so im assuming it not stock and it's a 5 lug setup.

I have a 72 also, although it has 76 disc brakes, but same thing.
I punched up the computer and found a place that advertised being able to machine them. I sent and email but never got a response. They were in N. Cal but I'm sure there are people everywhere that could do it. It wasn't that much either, something like 60 bucks for the machining.
Otherwise, I am in the same position currently.

Do a little searching in some past threads, there is an article on exactly how to do it. You swap em out for vega hubs. If I remember right.

Vega's are 4 lug? That article covered that, it was not a 'bolt on' either.

I have a set of drum brake hubs that are redrilled for a 5 study chevy bolt pattern. I was going to run drum brake but instead I went to Disc Brakes. I would be willing to sell them if any one wants them. You can Email me at davisck2@sbcglobal.net.

thanks

i have the same problem. i have the disk sitting on the garage floor. oh well i will keep the disk sitting till i find a place around dallas to do them.

will the master cylinder and all work with disks on a 75?
does it need a perportion valve installed or is it a ok to just leave everything alone and just swap the rotors and calipers onto the drum setup?

im the one that did the write up on the vega rotors.
there is machining involved with them as well to match the bearings for the spindle.

i saw a truck running around here a long time ago that had some big disks on the front. I asked the kid driving it and he said he wasnt sure cuz his dad built it but he thought they were spindles, rotors and calipers off of a Monte Carlo (mid 70's he thinks).

I might have solved the hole brake problem
I think that I found a company that will redrill bolt circles and also has disk brake conversions

I got a question. One of the guys at work just asked me about changing ball joints in a 72 El Camino. He said that the chilton says you have to unbolt the motor mounts in order to change out the ball joints. Does that sound right???

naaaa...something is fishy....the ball joint will either press into the upper and lower control arm or bolt in. Press in will require the removal of the upper and lower control arm for the truck but that shouldn't involve unbolting the motor mounts.
