I started putting power windows on mine. I should be able to have it working on one door Monday. I think I will take step by step photos as I do the other door and send them in with instructions if anybody is interested in doing theirs.

are you pulling the regulater from a diffrent truck or something. i guess if you pulled the components out a small truck like a s10 or something it would'nt be too hard :?

I have one in a junk door and working. This like everything else turned out to be more work than I thought. After mounting the motor and changing the gear on the Luv regulator the window wouldn't clear the motor. I have had to move the motor and regulator out about 3/4 of a inch. The factory regulator is recessed in so it will now be flush. I am going to have to move the door handle to open the door also. As the window goes down the gear comes up and hits the handle where it mounts. I might be able to reposition it a little or something. I am going to look at that next.

I am using GM motors that I can get new for around $45.00 and they come with a mounting bracket that I welded in the Luv regulator. They fit S-10 and many others. I got a used S-10 regulator but all you need is the gear part. It is a fine tooth and the Luv is a coarse tooth. I also plan on using one switch in the console and no switch on the door. I bought a new switch for a Camaro. I will get pictures and detailed drawing later and send them in so maybe they can post them.

cool RAT thanks for sharing!
If you ever saw the blue tubbed luv running around, it had power windows in it. I don't know what kind of motors it used, but I knew it could be done.
I had planned on doing this in the future, but haven't got to that point yet.
don't work yourself to the point you are tired of working on it again.
pace yourself. :D

Just out of curiousity, wouldn't those Autoloc type universal kits be an easier job? I'm sure it looks a lot better going the whole nine yards and making it look and work like factory though. I'm not too sure that the universal kits can accomplish that, but I'd really be interested to know if anyone has ever tried them on anything, LUV or otherwise.

I prefer to make parts work that I can get at most any parts store later if needed.

My back has been killing me for the last week so I have got nothing done. To add to this I am working some overtime. I won't be able to do anything for a couple weeks.

how about a very low gear motor off of allelectronics.com, hidden inside of a modified arm rest, and just connect it to where the crank handle used to go on???? It's an idea. Follow me???

Hey this is another idea that might work too: why not take the regulator and switchs from a Trooper that has power windows, i think the gears would be the same and if you can find the right color switches, it would look like a factory item. but i'm not sure on this, it's just an idea i'm throwing out there, power windows would be awsome :P

I think I've got a motor, regulator, and switch assy to donate if anyone wants it to play with. Let me know where to ship it and you pay shipping...

The regulator and switches you have, are they from a 1986-1991 Trooper, cause if they are i would be interested in seeing if they'll fit a Luv

My shipping address is:

Thomas Ohlman
P.O. Box 1451
Kayenta, AZ 86033

My phone # is (928)717-7323 in case we need to work shipping details out, thanks, if i can get them to work i'll give every one a step by step description of the install, hey it may be pretty easy who know?

I sent you a PM. I'll be glad to give them to you if you share your results with the community. I, however, only have 1 switch, 1 regulator, and one motor. If it works, and you want another, I know where I can get them, but they'll have to be on your dime.

Later...

yea that would be great, i have no problem with giving every 1 an update on the install, it justmay take me a while to get it finished because my truck is at home an i'm at school, so i can only work on my truck when i go home for the weekends  but yea that will work just fine. hopefully it will work
