Hey, new member here with a question for you guys:

The bench seat in my 77 stepside is badly shot, $400 was the cheapest quote I have gotten to rebuild it. I haven't had any luck in tracking one down in the local wrecking yards in the past couple months and I'm now looking for something to replace it. Does anyone know of any makes and models of seats, bench or bucket, that fit well and don't require a lot of conversion labor?

My spine thanks you in advance-

E.

check out summit or jegs they usually have seats (bucket) for about 100$ with the slider brakets for about another 20 or 30 $ this would be a good investment for you since your bench seat is prett bad i take it have fun :)

i think you could make just about any smaller car bucket seat work.
the ones i will be useing are out of a 1980 mercury capri, they look like sh*t but they was free.

I had some buckets out of a mitsubishi mirage in my old 76. The only thing I had to do was get new bolts, drill new holes, and  (This is embarrasing) put a couple of wood blocks underneath for spacers. They looked and felt great.

I had RX7 seats in my LUV. now they are in my cousins LUV.
I drilled one hole and did the wood block thing too. worked great for years.
got em' from a junkyard. put covers on them.
when I put the 5 speed in it I had to get rid of the bench seat cause of the shifter location.

I spoke to both Summit and Jegs, they have molded polyurathane racing seats for $36.99 each plus $29.99 extra for sliding mounting brackets. They also mentioned that the older Datsun pickups and Ford Couriers have very similar sized bench seats that work very well in Luv's. Thanks for all the replys, I think I'm off to my local pick-n-pull again today.

E.

Check Ebay. Search for bucket seats. I found a pair of Eclipse buckets that are like new for $50.00 total + Shipping. I believe it cost me about $90 when all was said and done. They are a good fit. You just need to drill a couple of holes and add a 1.75" spacer of some sort (one for each seat).
