Does anyone know how to fix the slop in the door hinges on an 80 4x4?? Do I need to get new hinges or can you fix the old ones? Thanks for any help.

I would have to say replace them. DIARMADHIM just went to the junk yard and got some for like $5 each.

Hey there. If I understand it correctly, you have the same problem as I do with my LUV. The hinges are so worn that the pin isn't seated tightly in the bore anymore, so no matter how much you try to adjust the hinge position or shim to compensate, the door sags and won't shut properly.

Like LUVNIT said, you can try to find new ones at the yard but if you're like me, theres no LUVs anywhere near here. So your only other option is to knock out the pin, align bore the hinges, and then insert a slightly oversize pin. I haven't gotten around to it just yet, but it doesn't seem like it should be too hard. I imagine if you have a drill press it would make it a thousand times easier and more exact. However, some guys have told me that a simple hand drill and vise should do the job. Let me know if you decide to do it. Good luck
