all you can really do with the stock suspension is crank the front torsion bars and use a longer shackle on the rear leaf springs. there are body lifts available, they sell them at 4wheelparts

the way to go would be to buy a set of toyota axles from a '79-85 pickup and swap them with leaf springs and crossover steering

a thought occured to me the other day. i wonder how wide a jeep is? looks about the same as a luv. jeep axles would be easier to find and they'd probably be dana axles so lots of parts would be available.

the only thing is, there hasn't really been any good jeep axles made for at least 15 years. every small jeep(xj cherokee, zj grand cherokee, wrangler, cj etc) has a boat anchor dana 30 front axle with a dinky 7" ring gear, and most have a c-clipped dana 35 in the rear. on top of that, no jeep made since the cj has manual hubs on the front, instead it has some worthless vacuum hub assembly that is expensive to replace

toyota axles would be a much better bet on something like a luv. cheap, 6 lug, available in a lot of ratios and have a drop out third member

I cranked up my torsion bars on the front and then I bought Leaf Spring Helpers. You just bolt a partial spring to the rest of the springs.They were enough to raise the rearend close to the front. It also makes it a more stiff ride, good for off road.

Well looks like if you have the ability, you can do like Gordo did. Look at his post { TRUELUV }

i haven't personally done it, but mounting the straight axle itself isn't much of a chore. the biggest issue i think is just figuring out steering. it's better to rig up a crossover type setup than use the stock(garbage) toyota push-pull that was on straight axle toyotas. most guys use an IFS steering box from an 86-95 toyota when converting from push-pull to crossover, and shell out the 400 bucks or so for custom steering arms, tie rod and drag link
