 Post subject: HOW TO LIFT MY LUV

i have a 79 chevy luv and i want to get large tires on it but i dont know how. i know you can tighten your torsion bars but i really dont know what bolts to tighten. And as far as shackles for the rear end i need some help on how to make them or to buy them somewere. i want to get atleast 30's on it. andy advice on how to do it? i dont want to put a toyota axal on the front though! !!!help would be greatly appriciated!!!!!

u can pick up some shackles at yur local auto parts store for less than $20 autozone has them here. the torsion bar bolts are mid way of the truck. crawl underneath it and the head of the bolts will be pointing down. they will be on a bracket attached to the frame. you will see a bar (the torsion bar) running from them (one on each side of the truck) up to the front end. you should let them soak in wd40 a couple days before. to make sure you don't break them. jack up the front end so the wheels are off the ground. and tighten them down. go a couple of turns on each side and let it down to see if its high enough, if not repeat the steps again. as far as another lift you could install some add a leafs on the rear springs instead of shackles, or you could install some overloads. i have some coil over, over loads that clamp to the shock. you could also install a body lift. jc whittney sells a 2" and a 3" you will probably have to install a body lift unless you want to trim your fenders and the fender well.
