PostPosted: Sat Mar 06, 2004 6:43 pm
I HAVE A 79 LUV AND I TIGHTENED UP THE TORSION BARS AND I WAS WOUNDERING WHAT KIND OF TIRE TO RUN. I WANT SOMETHING THAT IS PRETTY AGRESSIVE!! BUT NOT HUGE BECAUSE I CANT REALLY AFORD A BODY LIFT OR ANYTHING NOW. I WILL CUT THE FENDERS OUT THOUGH SO THE TIRES FIT. ANY HELP WOULD BE HELPFULL.

absolute best offroad performance: get bias swamper TSLs or boggers
good all around: bfg mud terrains

i have general powerguards. they may not be a really popular tire, but they hook up good. i went up a clay hill in reverse today that my friends samurai had trouble doing. they hook up good for me, but i think i am going to get some baja claws. they are supposed to go almost as good as a bogger, and they can actually clean on a lower horse power vehicle.

actually, the tsls outran claws by a few inches in peterson's 4wd mud challenge, and those were bias claws. radial claws that most people have on their trucks have nowhere near the tread of the bias tires

i'd go with the tsls, they're way cheaper than claws
