Havent looked over my dash cap yet. For those who have installed one, could I double side tape or velcro it down? Or does it form around the existing dash pad? I have intensions of smoothing it and thought if I ever wanted to change the color or lay some fabric over it, it would be good to be able to remove it. Also want to smooth & paint the shifter console. If I ever wanted a stock one back, are they hard to find? Havent noticed any for sale here. Mines in good shape, maybe I ll hunt down a broken one and smooth that. I ll have the sand paper & filler out anyways.

The cap you get from JC Whitney, etc... should come with its own adhesive. You could velcro it down, but it looks much more like stock if you put a lot of weight on it and let it bond permenatly.

Everyone's dash is cracked. Get a Whitney Catalog, you can get a cap for around $79 or you can buy a truck with the cap installed (like my 75 ) :D :!:

Well, I decided to just use my shifter console instead of hunting down another. Got it sanded smooth and filled the two holes that a previous owner drilled for toggle switches. So far so good. Wish I had a digital camera so I could post progress of all the work Ive done so far. I havent put alot of money into my truck, but Ive put a crap load of time into it.

Consoles don't show up too often, but I have seen them on ebay every so often. You only find them on LUVs with an auto transmission, so they are not super common, but I've run across a few in junkyards here and there.

I made my own center console previously and will make another shortly when the luv is on the road again.
the first one was out of 5/8 pressboard with carpet. the next one will most likely be aluminum or mild steel w/ vinyl or carpet.

oh yeah....guess im not everyone cause my dash isn't cracked.... :P
