Im considering upgrading my headlights. Is there anything better that halogen sealedbeam headlamps? (H5001,H5006) Right now i currently have stock incandesent headlamps(4000,4001) And the drivers side hi and low beam headlights are original "Toshiba" headlamps. Is there a better upgrade out there somewhere thats cost effective and retains a stock apperance?

I have HELLA headlights with the blue bulbs. you purchase the kit for chevy and they plug right in.
I got mine here.....http://catalog.com/susq/index.htm

I went on the susquehana website and the headlamp kit that I have is one of the H6024 kits. you can get different bulbs with the kit and if you aren't happy with your decision, or they burn out, replaement bulbs can be found at any auto parts store.
just go to the website and do a search for 7" headlight kits.
they are only around $67 to $90 for the whole kit depending on which bulb you get.
these headlights aren't sealed beams. they take a 9003 (H4) bulb.
definitely a differance.

Be careful not to overload the wiring. if you are wanting to get a 80/100 watt bulb for MORE LIGHT you will probably want to replace your headlight wiring. we don't want any luvs burning up the wiring.

Do you have a 2 headlight system? I have a 4 headlight system and the bulbs are 5 3/4" dia. The stock sealbeams are 4000/4001(low and hi beam) h5006/h5001(halogen low and hi beam)

I found a site that has upgrade lights. I can get headlight shells that hold H4 bulbs(5 3/4" and 7") among others. this way i can mod my low beams first and then later i can rework the hi beams. Also i dont have to worry about E-code lights not being D.O.T. approved. I dont need Johnny Lawman screwing with my truck. I figure i'll spend about 70-80 bucks on the low beams. They have 2 styles of housings (diamondback and standard)

Well I have to tell ya, the best upgrade I did was to improve the wiring. There is a site on hear that describes rewiring using relays and wire off the alternator. I used $11 fuel relays I got from NAPA and some 10 and 12 guage wire with new headlight connectors. I also used two 30 amp breakers, one for low beam and the other for high beam. That way if the breaker opened I could still use the other light level. It was unbelievable how bright the halogens were. The main problem is in the stock wiring harness. Improve that and you don't have to buy the expensive bulbs.I will try and find the web site. This is an easier and a much needed improvement. Give it a try I think most of you will be surprised just how bright the lights will be, I was!
