When I took my instrument cluster unit out, and went to put it back in it snagged a little on the edge of the vinyl part of the dash opening (for cluster). I very carefully trimmed a small amount off the inside edge, as you won't see it once the cluster is back in place.

Are you installing your dash cluster thru & with an old dash pad ?

or maybe a reworked dash pad and the opening is now smaller...maybe let it sit in the sun to warm up or use a heat gun

any pics to share ...Pictures seem to add more description to what people are trying to explain

make sure your threaded bolt on the gauges are in the right places to go thru and not hanging up.
