So I am sure these answers are SOMEWHERE on the site but I can not find them. Links or personal experience would be awesome. So I am getting ready to do a sbc swap into my 79 luv. I am curious what success has been made as far as steering, rear and front suspension as well as which rearend was used. I see a lot of people use the s-10 rearends but they only hold up to about 300hp supposedly and I'm aiming for more in the 400-500 range. Thinking either 12 bolt or 9" I have found a few things on coil overs but nothing specific. Also haven't found anything as far as rear suspension goes. What would be a good spring to have in the rear? Then the steering, I have had 2 luvs before this one and I remember they were really hard to steer. I cant imagine how it will be to steer one with a sbc sitting in it. Thanks in advance.

Mine steers fine with a sbc. What specifics do you want to know about the suspension? I have just about done it all to my truck. lol I would do a 9" with custom axles if its in your budget. You wont break that and you can get an easy disc brake swap.

If you've got the budget for a 500 hp v8, a narrowed 9" ought to be gravy...

I have a 9 inch with ladder bars and a stock front end. No issues at all steering with the small block up front.

I traded out a few nights of crew chief on a sprint car for the 9 inch. It has 33 spline axels, a 9 tru trac
unit. Not sure what it would have cost to have done, it cost me about 30 hours labor of working and setting up a sprint car.

With disc brakes and a stock center with a Detroit locker about 2400

the luv steers just fine with a small block. All you need to do is get a little roll going
