Hey guys I just found this on Amazon. It's a 12 place fuse block, and it looks to be good quality, and should fit in the same place as the old one.
http://www.amazon.com/Docooler%C2%AE-Un ... 8TF9BJM2B5 They also have have Hella fuse blocks that are 4, 6, and 8, place for adding stereo, dvd, rocket launcher or whatever and the prices are very good.

Nice find. I saw on Amazon they have other sized versions of that block 6, 8. 10, 12 fuse boxes.

I went ahead and ordered one, and it should be here in the next couple of days. I already have a wiring problem where somebody hooked up one of those weird horns. I ripped that out and threw it away. If I put a new horn on, it won't be one like that. I heard a Buick that sounded pretty good, and also a Ford horn that also sounded good. The book has the wiring diagram, just have to get out there, and take my time, and do it. It's tedious, but it's not hard. It's starting to warm up here in Texas, so I should be able to work on it soon. Also one of the guys on here about ten or so years ago drew up some plans to make the headlights shine a lot brighter. All you do is a little rewire, and put a relay in. Everybody who has done it says it works really well. It's here on the site, so you can download it, and print it out, and be good to go.

If you are interested there is a piece here on the site that shows you how to completely take apart your existing fuse box, clean it, and put it back in your truck. It is very well written, and he goes into great detail on how to do this without breaking any of the terminals. It's easy to break them, so if you do this be very careful or you will be doing some micro soldering, or buying a new fuse box. You should probably at least have a look at it, if for no other reason than to see how good of an article it is.

I got a similar box though feebay. It has the same layout. Looking at it, I decided to buy 90 degree terminals and replace the existing ones to eliminate breakage of the wiring at the terminals. The old box has the straight terminals, going in from the bottom, not the side like this style...

It was nice to find this one. I have looked all over before, and found everything possible, except the right one. I have the newest Luv of the type most talked about on LuvTruck, and it's 35 years old. I'm in South Texas, so far south that if I go another block farther, I'll be in salt water. Luvs are so rare around here I had to go almost to Dallas to get this one. Not only do they rust quicker, it's a constant battle against corrosion on the electrical connections. I know I'm not telling you anything new. I've seen you on here since probably before I joined in 03. Hope everything is going well for you.

I was looking over the different fuse boxes on Amazon. Some you can use 1 power source lead, but others you need a power source for each fuse.
Is the Luv's stock fuse box use 1 power lead, or individual power leads?

Don't know for sure, will check and get back with you. There are some very knowledgeable people on this site, so maybe somebody will chime in with the answer you need.

Unless you are rewiring it, the one like shown plugs up like the stock one. Just keep the wires on each side in the same order...

Very important keeping the wiring going into, and out of the fuse block in the same position they were in before. You might be able to get the new fuse block close enough to do them one at a time, because you will not remember unless you write them down. It's not that hard to do, but it is a tedious task no doubt.

I've posted the wiring schematics for a 1980.
It's not very clear in some places but this is the best diagram I've found.
Hope it helps.

I just did the swap this past weekend. I cut the old connectors off and added modern ones . The large black constant power feed wire had a different larger spade terminal . I got a heavy gauge one at the auto parts . Pretty happy with the swap so far . My fuse block wired from the side instead of from the bottom like factory . I used 1" aluminum flat stock to move it closer to the master cylinder for more room .

Thanks for the info and the wiring diagram.

I was thinking of going with this fuse holder:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-Truck-Van-6-Way-Circuit-Standard-ATO-Blade-Fuse-Box-Block-Holder-12V-24V-/290924672899?hash=item43bc763783&vxp=mtr

Would this box be straightforward for wiring? I believe my 80 Luv's wiring is stock.

It depends on what you want to do. I bought the 12 fuse block rated at 30 amps. If you haven't done this before be careful because the hot terminal on the battery can zap you and or, any electronics with about 850 amps. Do you know how many amps the fuse box is rated for?
