i have been trying to figure out what the big deal is with the mustang two front suspension clips
the mustang 2 was a total flop as a car, whats so good about the front suspension vs the stock front end we have? the availability of aftermarket control arms etc is nice but even that I don't get because everyone hated the car :lol: im looking to be able to corner faster without the understeer so if it is an improvement I may have to hunt one down.

Basically,
Its an efficient design. (One thing Ford was good at)
Not to mention there are a ton of parts available for these front ends.

Notice the spindle centerline and the location of the frame rails. Its a very good design.

Thanks for the diagram! I have the speedway motors catalog and there are tons of mustang II control arms, coilovers, spindles etc... will try to track one down in the next few months. They dont seem very common these days

The biggest problem is finding a rack that will work correctly with our trucks (S10's and LUV's).
Fitting the M-II crossmember in is easy.
This one should be the one you want.

You can get them narrowed but, at a cost.

So the deal with that kitnyou posted above is pretty much for cut it to fit your frame railsnright from the sizes availabke, then you have to buy control arms spindles etc? Seems easier to cut the front frame section off a mustang two and graft it to the luv frame

Also might consider our front suspension with a rack added . There is one in town that has a rack added to Luv front suspension and they were able to take all the bump steer out of it .

I will be posting a build soon with the Mustang II front..
It will include all the part numbers and any pitfalls.
You will be able to see if its worth the effort or not.

Hotrod80 do you have a pic of that setup?
And diabolical i will keep my eyes out for that thread.
Would like to figure out what my best option is, after tires and wheels there isnt a lot to gain from the stock setup. Im thinking it was mostly the 75 a/r of my little tires causing it but taking corners hard the truck felt like it was bucking in the front end and made it hard to control.

Thanks that makes picturing the setup much easier. Now if i was to use the whole system from a mustang two control arms with coilovers or bags i would need to hook the steering rack to the steering shaft, and the tie rods then solidly mount the assembly to a new xmember

This is a race set up , but all the bump steer was removed with tie rod end shims and the spindles had to be bored to if a heim style end . Really came out nice . So nice i considered swapping mine.

Mustang II rack can be narrowed very easily as long as you have a machinist friend or a decent local machine shop.

That looks good! Looks like a steering shaft ujoint is going to be necessaary as well as some more customization. My uncle has a mill and a lathe so i could have the changes made to the rack.
Hopefully this is something i can get to before long. Still finishing up my engine swap need a few parts for that before i get on the road again.
