So I'm looking for a other project truck. Has anyone done the dual headlight swap on a single front end before? A little work would be fine with me, I swapped a 01-04 Tacoma on to my 97 4runner so getting my hands dirty is no big deal. I was wondering what all goes into the swap. Is it direct bolt up or is there any manufacturing that needs to be done?

It is pretty easy. I put 4 lights into my 79 that had singles. From the donor you want the grill, the headlight trim, the light mount buckets, bulbs, and the wiring harness for both headlights. I took all the wiring from one light to the other, across the radiator core support, and into the other pair of lights. I wired it in to just one of the light sockets on the one side.

You can also re-wire so the lights are run from a relay right off the battery. Let the old light wiring trigger the relays to switch on the power direct from the battery. (with an inline fuse of course) The stock LUV lighting circuit runs full headlight power all the way in to the switch on the dash then back out to the bulbs. This drops the power to the bulbs by a considerable amount, and the switch can heat up and die as well.

Ageed.im doing the conversion right now. The light buckets grill etc bolt in place of the old parts. im running a relay to keep the power consistant. The plug on the back of the light is the same 3 prong as stock only there are two. Try to take the light harness with the new lights and splice/solder into the old harness end. You can also keep the stock wiring all the way to the hi/lo bulb and jump the ground and hi beam power wire to the hi beam only bulb

But you gotta see these before you make any major changes:

GE Nighthawk LED Headlights...

Before you die of sticker shock from the list price, they're cheaper on Amazon, but still pricey.
