Just wondering if anyone from this website would like to go in with me and try to buy the very rare dash pad that is for sale on ebay. I have a friend that does custom fiberglass work.(speaker boxes, door panels, and center consoles). I asked him about making a mold of the new dash pad and possibly selling them to all of you "Luv enthuiasts" for a cheap price. He said that it could be done, however he needs a good dash pad to mold one from. I also have a old luv cab that I cut the roof off of and the front a pillars. Now the metal part of the dash can be easliy accessed for the molding process. I would hate to see this pad get away from us. Yes I would end up keeping the new pad, however who ever decided to help me buy it would be first in line for the new molded dash pads that were made. I would sell those pads to the people who helped for no more than the exact cost of making them.(materials) no labor! The last time a dash pad was listed on ebay it went for well over $500.00 dollars. Is anybody interested in this buisness transaction? Just pm me and let me know. Also my friend said that he could start making them late this summer. :D
Mike.

I am sure there are a few guys watching this auction. I am guessing that you are not referring to the red Aussie made one, but the NOS one. I am not interested in a fiberglass one, but would be in a new one just like the originals and I am sure a lot of guys would be if the price is more reasonable than what the Aussie company was selling them for. I would like to find out about getting ones made like the originals with the polyurethane foam like the Aussie company was selling if it could be done reasonably. I am sure the mold and startup costs would be pretty steep as I know it is to make shifter boots, that is why I never went any further with that idea. It all depends on how many people would want one. Anyway, I am watching the auction and am serious about buying the dash either way since I can use a new one for my restoration truck and they are no longer available from the Aussie company. I figure if there is no way to get them made at a reasonable price then I would at least have a new one for my truck. So I guess I am not really looking to just go in with someone on it, but am serious about buying it either way.

I am sure many people would buy one. The only thing is what kind of price would it be having them made. I am pretty sure I can get them done somewhere, but if it is going to be very expensive then it might not work out. We will see what happens after the auction.

Maybe we should coordinate a little so we're not bidding against eachother?

I agree with Ben, u....z seams to want this dash pretty bad, but if it is one of us, it may be better to work towards cooperation. Mokadeth has proven with the intakes that he is willing to work to provide a part we can all take advantage of.

But, then Im not u....z.

I understand what you are saying. Believe me, I do want to try and make this work so we all can get dashes, but if for some reason it just isn't cost effective, then I figure if I bid on it and get it, well then I at least have a brand new dash like the rare other couple guys here that have one. If the Australia ones were still available then I might have just bought a couple at some point to combine shipping, but they are no longer available. I would like to be able to guarantee I can get these made somewhere, but I haven't that answer yet. I have been doing some research on it though. I would like to think they can be made here in the US by someone and for a reasonable price. Now if they cost as much or more to have made than what they go for now, then it might not be worth it. I know I am not interested in a fiberglass one and I am not knocking it for those who may be interested, but I am sure that the majority would probably want a dash as close to the original as possible. I would think that you would be able to have a mold made for the fiberglass dash from some carefully pieced together old dashes? Maybe even that could be done for the foam dashes too? I am sure the original would be best though. The only problem with trying to use the old dash pieced together is that they fall apart pretty easy when removing from what I have read here and most likely they are all cracking in the same places. I am still watching the auction so we will see what happens. Why throw all kinds of bids out there early and jack it up!
