Just my two cents worth but I would keep looking for a two wheel drive LUV.

Not sure if you might be interested or not, but I have a 2wd long bed that I would like to find a good home for. If interested make me an offer.

It's a shame to lose the 4wd but if you're determined to do it, I think you just unbolt all the front drive stuff. The suspension still works without an axle in it.

It might even be an advantage over the 2wd chassis. I saw one many years ago and, at the time, I thought the 'swept back' lower control arms from the 4wd chassis gave a little more room for the V8.

If you look up chevy luv on craigslist there is a luv for parts in Denver Colorado. It should have all the parts you need.

4x4 to 2x4 soaking the splines on the torsion bar ajusters to get the height way down and still have some spring to it,

I pulled all the 4x4 components off my luv to go 2wd with a 4.3. Around page 15
viewtopic.php?f=33&t=22916&start=300

Its fairly straight forward but dropping the axle out is a headache
Make sure to seal off the back side of the hub to keep water and dirt out
