i did a v8 swap in my 80 luv, and installed a s10 rear end with drum brakes. the brake pedle is hard and does not sink. but you have to push the pedle very hard at idle to keep the truck from moving. i only have 7 in of vacum at idle put have 15 at part throdle. i installed a vac resivor with check valve but it did not help. also the rear brakes do not seem to be doing much. is the s10 rear wheel cyl too small? or maybe my booster is not working?

Need more info. Are you still running the stock master cylinder and booster? Did you retain the stock proportioning valve?

Throw the stock master cylinder and booster away. We use a 94 Dodge Caravan's master cylinder without a booster.
Later we switched to the Aero kit and it works even better. We are now running 132mph in the 1/4 and it stops really
well. As with any conversion make sure the pushrod is long enought not to drop out of the master cylinder! We removed
the stock pushrod out of the stock booster to use in the Dodge master cylinder.

Sounds like an Air problem or time for a new master cylinder . I had stock brakes with ford truck drums in the rear and had no issues with the stock setup .
