Hey guys. I'm trying to remove my passenger side torsion bar to make room for my headers. They won't go in with the motor installed and won't go in if they're attached to the motor when installing it. With the bar out of the way, it appears that I can get the header in and replace the bar.

I removed the adjuster bolt, the torsion bar won't budge. I did what willis suggested and removed the two bolts from the lower control arm, it still won't budge. I even removed the adjuster from the frame, and the torsion bar still won't move. I put a jack under the lower control arm and moved it all the way up and down, and it seems to be in a bind no matter where I put it. I removed the shock to make sure it wasn't bottoming out before the tension was relieved on the bar, yet still...

I'm stuck. Any suggestions? I'm considering upgrading to coilovers since I'm so deep in this anyway, but I still need the damn torsion bar out of the way.

When i took it mine out the first time it was a PITA I used a hammer to tap on it where it slids in, while a buddy of mine wiggled it out & it wasnt easy to wiggle/pull it out. My buddy did most the work while i was gone then helped when i got back so i dont recall what all he pulled off to get it that far. This time around i got my headers in before i installed my motor it wasnt hard at all. You got the power by ace mounts i believe they a lil bit of work with torsion bars but they fit once its all together,i fought the passenger header also. Good luck...PB Blaster is your friend when messing with these trucks.

Joe, my headers are a bit different than yours. Mine are redesigned to clear the starter with the big flywheel.
