Im removing the cab and bed off my truck to do some body work, I was wondering if it would be a terrible idea to sandblast the bed and cab to remove the rust and paint. there is mostly surface rust on the cab and the bed has "Swelling" Rust spots, not really sure how to deal with this. I was thinking sandblasting would get into the cracks where the rust really is, e.g. at the corner of the cab where the bpillar meets the backpanel of the cab there is rust long that seam. Ill have pictures up tomorrow of what im talking about, I really need to get some pictures of it before I start my attempt at body work lol. its mostly rust free except the floorboards are pretty nasty but the cab is in decent shape as well as the bed, just alot of quarter size rust bubbles :(.

Heres a Sneak Preview from before I Purchased it.

Are you going to do it your self? If you soda/silica blast, you need to have a air supply to your. Those can get in your lungs and their is no way to get it out. There are people on a different forum that know body work and most of them say do not blast a car or acid tank it... You will never get all the sand out of it. You can never paint all the areas that the acid gets into.

Yes it is a lot of work, I agree with kaotikluv. I have seen to much metal warped from blasting, even from a company that does that kind of work. Navel Jelly will work good. Prime it with a epoxy or polyurethane.

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

you can buy a stripper wheel that chucks in a drill or what not from walmart or hardware stores itll take the rust and paint off the small spots n put em back down to bare meta you you can prime it..unless you are jus looking to do the whole truck in sted of jus the rust spots showing thru..
