I have a 78 straight bed and a 78 stepside thats tubbed can i put the straight bed on the step side will it line up just dont want to start cutting and it dont work

in my opinion if the stepside bed is tubbed out the fleetside would also have to be tubbed unless you plan on running a diffrent size tire. the whole problem will be your wheelwell clearance.

Depends on how it is tubbed. If the frame rails are cut behind the cab and moved in, then no it won't line up. You will have to mod the out riggers holding the step bed in place to mate with the fleet bed, or just drill thru the bed...

The mounts will be diff if the tub job was done right and if they also did the frame. Cause they would have to move the mounts when they pinch the frame in on the tub job. my 72 is that way the mounts are all diff from factory spots do to the tubbing.
