I have parts off a 1990 trooper but they look different. Well the main difference is the pitman arm. Can I get a pitman arm for an earlier year and use this steering box? Or is the sector shaft a different size? Also I need to know, how do I mount the pump to the block? what brackets do I use or do I need to custom make one?

Go the the Board index on the left hand side of the purple bar above. Then click on Stock trucks, there is a "STICKY Thread", I think it's the 3rd thread listed and it covers this very subject. Great thread with Pics and how he did it. I think your parts might be a little to NEW but not sure.

Having done dozens of these, here is one suggestion. The new steering box shaft is .110 largers than the old one. PM me and I will send you some pictures of the two, side by side. I have a machine shop nearby that enlarges (machines with CNC) and respines the old pitman arm to fit your new box, this costs $85. but makes it possible to use clear up to 87 Isuzu Pup P/steering boxes!! I've read where some guys have cut the end off their old two hole pitman arm and the newer one hole type and welded them together but I 'm a little reluctant to weld on my steering parts. If you decide to go the way mentioned above, I can ship one out to you almost immediately since I have them on the shelf. As far as brackets, you will probably have to make some up? Good luck,
dusty
