ive got an 80' mikado 2wd, im wanting to put a flat bed on it but i need some ideas on what to use as material and the dimensions? also ive read the dashboard fix thread but im not sure oh how well it works? i need more details on it and has anyone tried diamond plate as door panels and kick panels? thanks oh yea im new to the site can figure out how to put my pic up

so i got deminsions on my truck and have decided on the flatbed im goin to make but id like to know some engine work that can be done,ive never been an isuzu guy these little motors are new to me, i dnt want a 300 raw hp beast i just want something that can get down the interstate easily and will still get good mpg and wont cost me alot? i know im puttin alot of limits on it but there are a lot more luvs on this site then i thought was in the world so im sure you guys can think of something for me :D thanks

well although the truck would be nice to just have, it is a truck and i intend to use it for that purpose and a flatbed is just easier to load things on it and also the beds i have are shot so it could use something new

I'm guessing it's probably banged up on the opposite side of the picture or rusted through if he's saying it's shot.

My dad put a flatbed on his F350 back in the mid nineties and I think he welded two large 3/8" steel sheets together. It had a pair of long toolboxes on either side with some 2x6 wood rails past those. Then he Linex'd the metal to keep it from rusting. Looked sharp.

you might could do the layer thing..cut holes with a torch mabey every foot and weld the sheets together like that also if you put come aluminum on the other side of the hole you can hold the metal in there while it cools and it wolnt stickto the aluminum

my bed is rusted all the way through and i enjoy havin a flatbed
