ok after seening kits going around for a front 5lug conversion from a s10, its got me thinking about somethings. and even with the way my trucks been acting up. why has anybody gone throught the trouble of using the clip from the s10, i know its wider, so why not narrow it, some kits will still stick out more then the stock luv width, which for me is a No,NO. due to the fact if I bag my truck I want to tuck my tires under the fenders and not worry to much about tires size and wheel off set. but, I still think about buying one of those kits and making it work for what i my need. just something i have been woundering, and wanted to see if anyone has try this. thanks.

the problem with narrowing stock clips is that the steering geometry usually gets out of order. it would be easier to use a Hot Rod style universal Mustang2/Pinto front suspension.

However I do understand your width issue, and the problems you will encounter when you bag the truck. I myself plan on bagging one of my trucks and have found some solutions. Now upon careful measurement I have gotten around the issue by careful rim choice, the proper offset wheel corrects this issue and tucks the rim nice and tight. the problem with that is the limited amount of rim sizes and over tire width and height.

as of now, using my swap kit, a 235/60R15 will tuck under on 3" drop spindles. Rim cannot be wider than 7" and requires a 4" back space. As of yet, I have not tried anything bigger than a 15" rim.

I believe that if you were to use a DHP Control arm swap system with Mustang 2 spindles then you will regain the correct track width.

hope this helps

I gained an inch per side with the DHP Mustang 2 swap, but i got the 1 inch narrower track width. As far as narrowing the s10 clip, they are a PITA to put a v6 or v8 in stock, narrowed, not me...
