Gearbox goes between the engine and the differential.

What do you mean by gearbox???? This is a power steering thread.

The power steering GEARBOX!!!!!!!! I thought that was pretty obvious. In america we call the part between the engine and rear end is a TRANSMISSION!!!!!

In Australia we call it a steering box.
Makes lots of sense.
As does gearbox for the thing between the motor and diff. Its a box full of gears. A transmission is an auto trans.

I did not know what you were on about so i asked. You just kept up with the same riddle.

Same you didnt answer on the lines and hoses.

When i go near a steering box again i will check.

Bob.

I havent helped yet. Ive had a few guesses but i have not done the job as yet. The bits are all here.

Hope to have my 85 space cab in the shed next week for a 2.6L swap and the addition of power steering.

That will give me a hell of a lot of insight into putting power steer on the Luv when i get to it.

We all build bridges, you guys do call the bridges dont you.

Don't feel bad about things getting confusing due to any language barriers when you try to talk to us yanks Bob. We can't even understand each other over here. Living in a country that is comprised mainly of people from every corner of the planet all jumbled together in one big "melting pot" can certainly be a challenge....at best.

Everything you buy here has the label and instructions written and poorly translated in several languages, just about every street has a foreign name, and hardly anybody you work with or do businees with on a daily basis speaks american/english very well. Driving in traffic with all of them is no joy, and if you are traveling and get lost - good luck getting directions from a local person without a translator.

Each city, county, state and/or section of the country has it's own unique accent, dialect, slang, style of dressing, laws, and customs. A lot of people here display every other flag but ours and celebrate every other national holiday but ours. And there is every type of ethnicity, religion, and beliefs imaginable here with our politicians, our government and public/social systems and institutions trying desperately to cater to all of them. And most people refer to themselves as anything but an an "american" when you ask them.

You can find just about every kind of food imaginable served in some type of restaurant reasonably close to each other in just about every city - that is, if you can understand their menu well enough to figure out just what the heck it is that you just ordered and that is now sitting on your plate...lol

We have just about every country imaginable marketing and competing furiously to sell us their goods - but you can't understand their tech support people, or find the parts to maintain anything or to get anything repaired. And most things that used to be "american made" here sadly just aren't anymore.

We have a lot of foreign people that are sneaking in this country every day for whatever reason and we can't seem to stop them much, in most of out big cities it isn't safe to go wandering about in a strange neighborhood without an armed police escort, and using whatever public transportation that is available there can be a real adventure...to say the least. And on just about every main road you can find someone somewhere holding up a cardboard sign that says "will work for food" or "need help - my children are hungry" scrawled on it, looking for a handout from people driving by. And every main city has homeless people living in the street begging desperately from the public.

So don't let people pick on you for not living here - IMHO you should probably feel fortunate that you are an aussie...lol

(And geez... am I probably gonna catch hell for this post or what?)

I don't mind when Bob razzes us about some of the terms we use or how he makes fun of harley's. I just smile and think about how his entire country was a prison colony once...

Ouch...that was a bit harsh.

When I look around at the bars on my windows, my collection of weapons for self-protection, my heavy duty doors and locks, my motion/heat sensitive alarm systems, my motion/heat sensitive lights, and my day/night vision capable video cameras spying on my house, shop, yard, and vehicles I have to remind myself sometimes that I'm not living in a freakin' prison.

And I live in a nice quite well maintained suburban upper middle class neighborhood in a low crime area in a smaller community way up in the Pacific Northwest...lol

If that's progress - they can shove it. It's just gettin' a bit too crowded and crazy here where I live for me.

I'm already getting my house ready to sell so me and the wife with her two dogs can move out in the country a bit. I'm going to buy us a big cheap fixer-upper re-possessed double wide trailer, put it towards the back of about 3-5 acres of land, build a big tin-roofed pole bulding shop next to it, fence the property all off with a big locked gate on the front, secure it all like a fortress, and try my best to live the rest of my life in peace and quiet.

I need to be out in the boondocks a bit where I can fart without my neighbor smelling it and calling the health department, where I can scratch where ever it itches, knock off a piece with the wifey, or watch a ball game in my underwear without someone complaining and calling the cops, and where I can holler at my dogs to quit barking without someone calling animal cruelty. And where I don't hear cars all day and night driving by with loud steros rattlin' my tools in my toolbox and the dishes in my kitchen cupboards. Or where I won't have to prance around inside my house like an idiot doin' the pee-pee dance while someone is hogging the bathroom either...lol

And once I'm good and settled in...if some poeople know what's good for them - they won't show up uninvited. I've had enough neighbors, church people, local politicians and public officials, and sales people banging on my door pestering me and butting their noses in my business already to last me 2 lifetimes...lol

And now I thnk I'll quit hijacking this thread, get off my little soap box, quitting ranting, STFU and go have a cold beer.

Yeah was surely prison colony but that was back in the good old days when looking at a rich bugger sideways would get you locked up. All the ones that did bad things they strung up.

Im with you Taz, sound like a plan.

We have a 'nice' multicultural thing going on here too.

Ive got 8 foot high fences and bars on the windows too.
And i live in an industrial estate, the only house in the street surounded by factorys and yards.
The house was once filled with a massive hydro setup im told. lol.

About the only thing we have going for us is that there is a very limited number of concealable sized guns around.
Not that you need a gun to kill someone. Guns dont kill people, people kill people.
The down side is you have to jump through quite a few hoops to get a license to buy a rifle or shotgun, no repeaters or semi-autos of any sort only under special circumstances like for contract shooter for kulling critters. Only bolt and lever actions and im pretty sure theres a limit on magazine capacity too.

I think you can still go in off the street and buy a compound bow, but you need a license for a cross bow.

Bob.

On a 2.3L the P.S. parts will work, how about the P.S. parts on 2.2L diesel?

Yeah, I really can't imagine a society without guns... Proud supporter of the NRA. And owner of several guns... You ever come up here, you need to see the beauty of a Glock 9...

Im all for, if you aint gunna eat it dont shoot it.

Does not apply to non digestable things. Tin cans and old cars and the like. Or any animal you are putting out of its misery.

Personally i do not realy see the need for handguns in everyday life. Not sure how society is over your way but just kicking about down under wont see you needing to shoot much to keep yourself alive. If you do you would probably be better off with something a little larger.

I live in a pretty rural area. The local sheriff told us that by th tiem they could respond and get to our house, that a criminal could come and go. I say be prepared. If the "bad guys" know you carry a gun, theres a lot less chance they will try to rob. Handguns are much more preferable for self defense and can be used in close quarters easier than a rifle or a shotgun.

Hey! I'm all for the live and let live stuff - we live in rural Montana and there are too damn many busybodes here also. Oh Well.\
This was a Power Stg thread?? I've got a 74 2wd that I autocross race and with 4 1/2 turns lock to lock steering and 11 inch slicks it took some MAJOR upper body strength.
I cut everything out and modified a 96 mustang gt 2 1/2 turn rack to fit. Had to cut the t-rod ends 2.5 inches each and use a STEEDA bump steer kit (cut down also). Used borgeson steering joints and support bearings and a Saginaw pump on my 350 sbc. Had carquest make up the p/s lines and had to modify the pump pressure relief valve ports and spring pressures - but, man is it nice. You can turn it with one hand for parking and never need to take your hands off the wheel driving around town - it's just like a sports car now!! A lot of work, but awesome results.
Speed is just like medicine - makes you feel good!! Don
