I currently have a 79 2wd Chevy Luv longbed with 3 inch lowering blocks. I would like to go with 4 inch blocks if possible, I do not want to go with airbags because i already have a Cutlass oldsmob thats bagged, its a fun car but not a reasonable everyday driver cause of the bags. My luv is my everyday driver so i definitely want to stay with blocks. Im just hoping somebody could help me compare the pros and cons of 4 inch blocks, i have some concerns over pinion angles when going that low. The exhaust is only ran to the middle so im not concerned about the rear end being to low for the exhaust to fit through. Any advice is appreciated, though Im only 18 years old so i dont want to get all tweaky with it, Just wanna keep it simple but nice. I would also appreciate some url links to sites where i can purchase U-bolts and blocks.

Thanks

You can only go so low in the front and i think 4" blocks will be to low but i could be wrong.

whats up..hers some answeres for you i had my 79 blocked 5" in the rear and the front cranked all the way doen and the only problems i ran in to was the pinion angle will be way stressed and you are gonna have to rebuil the tranny tunnel s it will scrub all the way to the front joint and you will not have any suspension travel in the back with out notching the rear...so everytime u hit a bump or something you gonna hear it slam the hell outta the frame..and far as ubolts and what not try a 4x4 place they sell all the stuff for big lift blocks like that and all

They make some angle shims that should help with the pinion angle.

also you can get a 4" block with a angle built in to it i had a set on mine and also put a set of air shocks for when you load or put a helper bag set on it with a small compresor and tank to when you are down it looks sweet then pump a lil air in that is how i am going to do my 2 wheel drive k-5 just when i dont wont to use the air it rides stock as for the notch you can but a small one in if you dont wont to cut your bed

An old school way to lower and retain the ride in the springs, is to have the main leaf eyes reversed. They just re arch the spring the opposite of what it is stock and that will give you approx a 2" drop.
