I'm thinking about getting some carpet soon for my luv but, I'm trying to decide between molded or just going to Lowes and getting it by the yard. Does anyone have pictures of their unmolded carpet installation? Would appreciate a look at what can be done before I decide.

Thanks!

Nate

No pictures, but I went a carpet store and bought an indoor/outdoor remnant. I kind of cut it to fit with some overlaping seams. It looked quite good originally. Year of wear and tear plus who knows how many Lab puppies have made a mess. Trying to drive and stop a puppy from eating the carpet at the same time is tough.

Another option is to do what I did and get rid of the carpet and use Herculiner (the bedliner stuff). I never have liked carpet in a truck. I ripped the mildewed, stinking carpet out of my truck and put down 3 coats of Herculiner. I now have a very tough, chemical resistant surface that also deadens sound. I have been very happy with it since I did this and to clean it, I just open the doors and hose it out!

Hahhaha! That's awesome. Have any pictures, Maduro?

Nice looking carpet! Did you have to do anything special to install it, ctmandu?

Tempting. Should outlast the carpet and defeat the puppies.

I did one coat of Herculiner in my 4X4. Should have done 3 coats I guess. But I like it, even thin. Pic of it in the link. It looks "warn" these days.

The thicker you put the Herculiner on, the better. At least two coats is required for good results. I have only 2 coats in the bed and thats a little to thin for my liking, so this spring I am going to put down 2 more coats in the bed for a total 4 coats in the bed. While I'm at it, I'm going to put one more coat on the floor.

Could cut the floor pans out (from the seat forward) and weld in better guage flat panels with some stiffeners under the floor and then apply Herculiner. This would give you a nice flat and smooth floor.
Hey ctmandu, what are your seats from and are the functional?

Wow thanks guys! :D I think that I'm going to use bed liner and see how it looks after a few coats then buy some carpet if I'm not feeling the bed liner. But I really liked the look of of rons. Ctmandu, saw your fix up with the dash (paint and carpet) next pay check I'm doing it. 8)
