Stock suspension will work with that unless it is really wild. Caltrac type bars and good tires will hook. There are a couple of different brake threads in this section, just scroll down a few or use the search and you will find them...

DG,
We have a 5 seasons of experience racing a 383smbk. Our team is strickly LoBuck so we had to make do with leaf springs. Our best time last season was 10.78 at 121mph.
Use the stock leaf springs with SSM type tractionlift bars or Traction Master bars. DO NOT use stiff
leaf springs!! Use a rear shock set on its firmest setting and a 90-10 shock up front. Set the pinion
angle at -4 degrees. We use a 4.10 gear with a 29X10.5 slick at 9lbs and launch at 2200rpm. If we could get a 4.30 for our Dyna 20 it would be better. A 4500 redneck converter is used and on a good day it will carry the both front wheels 10" to the Christmas tree.
DO NOT use the stock u-bolts they just can't take the power.
As the leaf springs weaken with use and you lose tire clearance make longer shackels to lift the bed.
CalTraks are best but with new springs etc. it will cost a $1000.

60' times - All over the place!
With cool weather and a good track 1.46 - 1.48. Other wise 1.50 - 1.54 and 10.90's
To run in the low 10.80's our 60' times are always in the 1.40's
This season we will be using radial slicks of the same size to see if that effects our 60'times.
