I found a drop spindle designed for 4 cyl rodeo (isuzu pup for the 'mericans) that utilises holden commodore disc brakes and calipers.
does anyone know if these are the same size balljoint taper? apparently the top is, but i can't find any information regarding the bottom.

its available thru Castlemaine rod shop (http://www.rodshop.com.au) part number SA2. Still waiting to hear back with a price.

What year Rodeo???

Drop spindles are bad for your everything apparently. They up set the geometry.

You better off putting spacer blocks between the lower balljoint and the lower suspension arms.

they fit 89-96 shape 2wd

i havent ever had problems with drop spindles messing up geometry, iv used them on two rodeos.

the only problems i had was with spindle spacers unscrewing themselves. from memory the passenger side will break lockwire and unscrew itself given time.

just my experience speaking.

Theres your problem. The lower balljoints on these point up. On the earler ones they point down.

Id say because of that the spindle height would be different too.

I do have a set of brakes off a 90's in the shed somewhere. That where they stayed when i realised the balljoint difference. I still hope to swap the rotors over onto earlier stubs.

But then since some thievs helped them selves to my rims ive no need to stay with the 6 stud now. But i do think that a 9" in the back of a 4cyl KB20 would be over kill.

Plans have changed somewhat...

New plan for the front: Toyota Hilux drop spindles, custom made billet hubs, BA Falcon 300mm rotors with Nissan Skyline R33 GTST 4 piston calipers. all bolts straight together, no spacers required.

New plan for the rear: Toyota Hilux Diff with LSD 3.07 centre, Toyota Supra MA70 Hubs, rotors and calipers with inbuilt park brake levers.

This way stud pattern is the same front and back, i get my 4 wheel discs, a strong diff AND a working park brake.
So far all parts sourced have been second hand (except for front hubs) to keep costs down.

If anyone wants more info let me know, once i get all of the parts togethor i will clean everything up, take photo's and make up a how-to document if anyones keen.

No probs, might a little a month or two, but im fairly confident that this will be an easy low cost option for others converting to 5 stud.

will this setup work on a 79?
