This is an idea I had for adapting a Trailing Arm rear style suspension to the LUV. The thought I had was to use as much of the stock mounting (axle pads, current bolt holes in frame, etc) as possible. The trailing arms would be made from 2 X 3 square tubing (wall thickness need some advise on). They would connect to brackets on the crossbrace at the back of the bed on the frame. The bushing would be boxed into the crossmember side of the Trailing Arm. More detail to come.

This is what happens during a slow day at work with Google!!! :roll: (Sorry about the poor drawing)

Any idea , thought, critizing welcome please!!

That kind of setup wouldn't be very beneficial on a luv because of the boxed frame they have. The trailing arm setup itself doesnt give any flex side to side, so on the full size chevy's, the frame is designed to twist when you pull into a driveway at an angle etc. If its strictly for a drag truck with limited suspension travel this would work just fine. But on the street it would really twist up the backhalf of the frame.

It woud work better with Heim joints up front for a little twist but would still be limited.

Better yet but still need a panhard bar or watts link to keep rear end in line.

How about just using ladder bars whith the leaf springs (no panhard bar)

Trying to eliminte the leaf springs. I have heard that lader bars are not real good for street use,
