I have a 79' 4wd that I swapped a 350 into. I took out all of teh 4wd parts, front diff., clutch stuff, etc...but I still have the 4wd front spindles. I pulled a pair of 79' 2wd spindles and want to put them on but will I run into problems? They look like they'll fit right in. I also need to fabricate a crossmember since there is one on the 2wd and I guess the front diff. on the 4wd acted as one. Has anybody done this?
The 2wd spindles will bolt straight in.
I would not have used the 4x4 frame for a 2wd v8 conversion, the 4x4 frames use a different lower control arm and shock arangement than the 2wd. With the 4x4 frame if you want to pull the torsion bars and fit coil overs you will need to do some fabrication work, also i,ve read that the 4x4 front will not wind down as low as a 2wd.
