I have been in contact with Unlimited and they say that they use a different process and the quality is better than the old L-88 Hoods.

I am thinking of ordering a 4 3/4" or 6" cowl and they said they can leave the scoop long enough to go to the windshield. I think it looks better if it goes to the windshield and I already lost the wipers so I want it to go to the windshield.

Has anybody bought one of thier hoods lately? If so what was the quality like? Did it fit decent?

My hood is junk so I need something to work with but I hate to give what one cost and have to spend a month getting it straight enough to paint.

Any suggestions 4 3/4" or 6" ?

Can you see well enough if you go with a 6" cowl? You might want to test it out with temp cardboard cowl and check if you can see ok. Then decide what you want. Make one of each and see what you like better. It will only cost you some old cardboard and some tape to find out.
I had you figured as a snorkel type of gearhead. I dont know why. For some reason thats what i was thinking.

so you don't think 4 3/4 is enough?
I have sat behind some cars with a 6"......im like damn.....how do you see?
I think a 6" will be a vision problem.
especially if you are going to drive it on the street alot.
just my opinion.

come check out my 3".....HOOD! the HOOD people....LOL

If you actualy drive it check your city and state laws. In IL where Im from you cant legaly have anything more than three inches. Even though Ive seen plenty of cars with more than that. On a personal oppinion, I think 6"s look like a big tumor. If you can clear with a 4" youll have less vision abstrutions too.

After going back to look at your pics in the gallery, A scoop would be mainly cosmetic. I still think you should make a cardboard cowl and decide what height you want.

I talked to my neighbor who has the Mustang and his is a 5" and I have driven it on the street before. I wouldn't want to go any taller so I have ruled out the 6". The card board idea is what I had in mind. With the hood being as short as it is I think it would be easy to get one that looks too tall!

Check out Rudy Victorio's truck in the main gallery. That is about what I want in height ,but going all the way to the windshield.

I have an outlaw cowl hood from Unlimited that I bought for my 71 Chevy drag truck. The quality is decent at best, but they did tell me beforehand that it would be unfinished when I got it.

Has anyone bought a hood from AutoFab? I talked to them last year and they still made them but i think there stock looking hoods, no cowls or scoops. They wanted 450.00 for them last year. I dont know what the finish is like when shipped. It's something to look in to.

Against my better judgement I have ordered a hood. 4 3/4" with the hood scoop long enough to reach the windshield. After finding a good stock hood I couldn't bring myself to cut the latch out of it. The breather wingnut is where the latch was. With it being glass it may take a while but it can be made straight. I also won a contest at work and used that on the hood so it didn't seem like it cost as much.( But it did)

5 to 6 weeks deivery time. I will post on the quality when it arrives.

I want on too but I just can't bring myself to spend that kinda money for a glass hood. I'd rather get a used one and put some work into it. I know, I am tighter than frog coochie! And that is water proof!

I will be in contact with Unlimited in the morning I am going to have to go to a 6" in order to cover the blower but with it going all the way to the winshield I think it will be alright.
