Has anyone mounted the side mirrors on the fenders, like this?

I put 'wing window' doors on my truck and I don't like how far back the mirrors have to go. What do you think of this?

Maybe try some different mirrors
Sit in the truck, mirror in hand, and see where you would like them

Id almost say move them where the rain gutter is at, but I dont think you could get anything in there without cutting a section of it out

Yah, the more I look at it, the less I like it.

I hadn't thought about them getting in the way of the engine compartment.

I guess I'll try some different mirrors. something that doesn't interfere with the wing window.

Thanks.

Does Cali law require a side view mirror? Have you considered one of those "all view" setups? I had one on my Datsun once upon a time, kinda liked it.

I would like to be another one to talk you out of placing the mirror there.

not a big fan of that either.......I have seen a few Datsun pickups with that look. Why not try a vintage peep mirror? I have a 1940s peep mirror attached to the rain gutter on my Chevy Luv....looks pretty good. You can find them all over Ebay. Good luck!

Last time I checked, Texas requires only marror. But you must be able to see behind the auto.. Check out some street rod sites.. Try could have some nice ones. But that is only good if you don't have a special reason for using them.

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

In CA. you have to have a mirror on the left (drivers) and a rear view on the inside.
If the rear view is blocked by anything like cargo, tinted window, no mirror, stickers on window shell/topper,etc. then you also have to have a right side mirror.

To each his own, I think the early 70's Japanese influenced mirrors are OK on some cars. Here's my '63 American...
No, I don't have it anymore, 'The Blur' was a sad victim of a costly divorce :( Last I heard, it's bones were in Newberg, OR.
