Does anyone know what kind of door gasket will work on a LUV? I finally got my other doors put together, all but the gasket. I figured that I would get some gasket from some other type of car, if I can find one that will work. Hopefully someone has tried this before and can help me out.

Damn...wish I'd known that before I ordered from restoration specialties.com. Sure their stuf works fine, but as I understand, ya have to cut and glue your own corners.

For my '79 I used door seals from a '90 Trooper. They install properly and have the angle for the top of the door. You'll need to cut a few inches off the bottom and glue the ends.

I bought both door seals and a rear view mirror for $10 at a local U Pull It a couple of years ago.

Ok, so ya think brand new door seals would be great.
Installed the stuff I ordered from RestorationSpecialties.com, and now my doors whistle like hell.

:x

From the "2 birds with 1 stone" department...

Picked up some 'universal' rubber auto-door seal from Advanced, came in about 3/4" witdth so I clamped it down and split it with a razon knife. aplied it to the body surface that the door trim mates to. Fits and looks nice, stuff sticks like crazy too.

Any way, went for the test drive not only did I eleiminate the wind whislte but also completely eliminated the door rattle and shake, can't believe how much quieter the ride is, even drove down railroad blvd, a road we have here has about 6 tracks crossing it :)

Can take pics if anyone is interested, but is pretty self explainatory.

Happy Truckin

I got some gasket from a Chevy Celebrity that my wifes aunt wrecked a couple of years ago. I tried it out, and I think that it will work good. Hopefully I will get it on this week sometime, and if the weather warms up some, I can change my doors next weekend.

I got the gasket on the doors. Looks like it will work pretty good, but I haven't put the doors on the truck yet. It finally warmed up, but it is raining now. REALLY makes me wish that I had a garage.

Where did you pick it up at? And what is a dodge d-50?

I got my gasket put on the other day, and it works pretty good. I only have a little air leak on the driver side, but not too bad. The only bad thing now is that I have to park my LUV for a little while. I bought me a 2003 S10, and now I have to quit with the LUV for a while, until I sell my 2000 GMC Jimmy. This way, MAYBE I can keep my wife in a half-way decent mood.
