 Post subject: headlight bezels

i want to paint my headlight bezels black to match the cragar 397 series wheels im getting. any suggestions on what paint to use and the surface prep thats involved? ive never painted anything chrome before.

I'm doing mine today, I washed them in hot water and a soapy steel wool pad, not a SOS pad, but the kind you use for polishing, and then I used the dry steel wool to smooth the area I am painting, I am using ColorPlace brand Gloss black#21008 from wally world, about 3.50 a can.

Apply a light coat 1st, and let it dry awhile--20min? and then hit it again until it looks good, I have mine drying in front of a elec space heater.. Yeah I'm watching it!!...LOL

i used a flat black to make it look original... the other one was not done yet so you can see the difference

The 'cheepo' halogen shop lights from WallyWorld make good paint dryers too.
