Seems to be the wave nowadays. Just curious as to if it could even be done. Could you put bags on a torsion bar suspension?

I've shot a few sparks crawling over rocks in my 79 4x4, does that count?

I want mine to lay on the next rebuild. The problem with it right now is the headers are lower than the frame and that would not be good (plus my rims stick out a little past the fenders) ! You can bag a torsion suspension but I am not sure how it works. I wish I could find a bagged Toyota in my area but the only bagged trucks I ever see are S-10's.

Just a thought, but if your going to slam it- dump the t bars for something else. Maybe im missing something. If you put the bags on, what do they replace, are they the support, like the tbars, coil overs. Cant you just dump the tbars and put in air bags.

this is not my area, but have not ruled out lowering my truck a bit to look like all the 1/2 ton street trucks in all the chevy mags that are slightly lowered. Im interested in this area also.

I can easily lower the back, as I built it from scratch- its coil over, etc...

Does anyone know if buying a "weaker"set of coil overs to replace the tbars will safely allow a couple inch drop?

I got some direction on another site. You s-can the bars and fabricate a top mount for the bag. And yes, the bag is the suport then.

ditch the bar, weld a lower bag bracket to your lower control arm, upper bracket to your frame, put a bag between them, then do it again on the other side

yep, scrap the bars. custom fab the rest, now getting it to lay is not easy, because of the crossmembers. also, to lay it out you will have to move the upper control arm higher, but it can be done.

also, i havent looked at mine yet, but if luvs are like any other small torsion bar trucks (nissan, isuzu, mazda, ect.) dont forget to build yourself some shock mounts, you can build the bottom one off of the back of the control arm, and the top one wherever your shock reaches to on your frame... lots of places sell shock relocator kits, but i dunno if you can use them on a luv...

you cna do it either way, there are brackets to weld onto the bars or you can ditch the bars and do the conventional set up between the arms, think of a coil spring front suspension, you basically replace the coil with the bad and mounts
