I just got some new wheels for my truck, and I cannot stop the front tires from rubbing on the body. I was looking at your photo gallery, and your fenders are right down on the tires. What did you do to stop this? I have about an inch and a half of space above the tire. I just hate to take all the spring out of the front end to stop this, but I am to the point I will. If anybody has some advice I will gladly listen. This is one of the reasons I wanted my new wheels to set under the fender wells, but I could not find wheels with the correct backspacing I needed. Toby sorry to hear about your steering box problems, but you have one first class truck. 8) Don't let it get you down, with hotrodding it's always something I've learned. Thanks Rick

I run a 185/60/15 on my truck with 15X4 rims and the tire is just even with the outer lip of the front fender. I still have travel and with cutting the rubber snubbers in half I have travel but the tire will not rub the fender. I know this thred is a question for LUVNIT, but I thought I would let you know how mine is. My pics are under Karl Ott.

Look, how cute, three white LUVs in a row. I really wanted Yellow, but my wife said NO WAY IN HELL.

Thanks rick!!! As far as your wheels rubbin, well I think you might need to upgrade your front shocks maybe, or turn your torsion bars up, and lift the front end up some. Im not a pro at that kinda stuff, but im sure someone here will have an answer. Luvrv8 , about cuttin the rubber snubbers in half, what did that do exactly???

By cutting the snubbers in half, I was able to lower it more as now the lower control arms dont hit the snubbers. Now since the snubbers are shorter the arms can travel more before the control arm hits them.

You can also remove the whole rubber stopper. Two bolts hold it in there. It will give you even more travel , but will "clunk" if you bottom out to hard. Metal on metal instead of metal on rubber.

I had to leave mine in due to the fact that when I launch my truck and let off the front end slams down hard.

new wheels eh? im gonna have to have me a looksee at them one of these days.

back on topic, what do you mean they rub on the body? are they catching the edge of the fender when you turn or all the time? my truck did that alot before i rolled my fenders out. i really dont think your gonna be rolling your fenders out though...

if you dont mind me askin, what wheels and tires did ya get. i really liked the way it looked with the nissan wheels.

Thanks for all the replys. Heck Neil I don't really know the name of the wheels. You and Anthony need to come on over and take a look. I think I should have just left the nissan wheels on it, in the end I think I would have been happier. The front wheels are 15"x6", with a 3 3/8 backspace. That put the lip of the wheel even with the inside lip of the fender. The tires I put on were low profile, just like the nissan rims had. I had to crank the torsion bars up 3/4 of an inch to get the clearance I needed. The left front tire is even with the outside of the fender, and the right side sticks out about a half inch. That's what drives me crazy. The right side sticks out of the fender, but the lip on the inside of the fender is cutting the outside corner of the tire. The rear tires are 15"x7", and they set even on the outside of the bed. I had to cut 3/4 of an inch off of my lower blocks for added clearance. The six lug front hubs just took away all the options of wheels that I needed, and wanted. My next move will be to put extra stiff shocks on it to limit travel, and add 1 more leaf spring in the rear to stiffen that up. Anyway sometimes I wonder what is so fun about hotrodding, half the time I think my head is going to explode it pisses me off so bad. But then I calm down, head out into the garage for another headache. 8O Must be a brain defect I guess.

hm.. i talked to the same guy you did down at schwab! and he opted for ordering out for some custom aluminum wheels. i am getting the backspacing that i want and whatnot. and they have them in the 5 and 6 lug patterns... but i am paying for them.. 168 for the customs and a little less for the fronts as they dont need to be made
